We were recently invited to write a guest post on the Heart of Campus Ministry blog as part of a series called, “Why Campus Ministry?” In this series you’ll hear from serveral different people serving in college ministry explaining why they give their lives to this field. You’ll find out what drives them, what keeps them going, and what encourages them.
We asked ourselves this same question just over a year ago in our own 2 part blog series by the same title. In part 1 we talked about 2 key dimensions of college ministry, the first being the actual Ministry and the second dimension is the Operations supporting the ministry. In part 2 we gave examples of how a college ministry residence hall (Student Living Community) can be a valuable tool for bringing Ministry and Operations together. Perhaps the title for this series should have been, “does this makes sense for college ministry?”
For the Heart of Campus Ministry’s “Why Campus Ministry?” blog series, we answer this question from a missional perspective. We share a story we’ve heard from several families in our church, and what they commonly experience when their child comes home from college. This is the story of many families within the larger church body, and it captures why Newchapter’s mission to help build strong college ministries.
